With 20+ years of media experience, including 15 years of market research, Betty Diaz is currently the VP of Programs and Operations, ViacomCBS Veterans Network, working closely with the Chief Veteran Officer, Richard Jones, the group oversees military-related initiatives for ViacomCBS employees and the veteran community. Coming from a military family (uncle is a Marine Veteran and cousin is a Wounded Warrior Army Veteran), “we recognize hard work and dedication it takes to serve our country, and we’re proud to support our veterans’ career development by helping them network with the best in our business”. Under Betty’s leadership, the ViacomCBS Veterans Network has expanded its programs and initiatives by +297% in 2019 vs. year prior. Betty also created the first-ever Veterans Network Ambassador roles among ViacomCBS’ talent and enrolled SEAL Team’s Toni Trucks, Judd Lormand, Blue Blood’s Donnie Wahlberg and The Talk’s Sheryl Underwood to support the group’s mission. Through their participation, the vet net’s social media platform has grown exponentially and staple events, such as “Coffee with Vets” has flourished. Betty is also the liaison to key partner, American Corporate Partners (ACP), a national nonprofit organization focused on helping returning veterans and active duty spouses find their next careers through one-on-one mentoring, networking and online career advice. Betty also works closely with ViacomCBS corporate executives such as, Jo Ann Ross, President and Chief Advertising Revenue Officer, ViacomCBS Domestic Advertising Sales and Mickey Carter, Executive Vice President, U.S. Networks Distribution, who advises the group on its many initiatives (i.e. veteran-related screenings, career panels, media tours, veteran organizations etc.).  Just recently, Betty Diaz served as the Research Director for CBS Affiliate Relations since 2016. She supported the Affiliate Relations and U.S. Networks Distribution teams with strategies to promote the ViacomCBS brand and ViacomCBS content with video distributors and affiliates. She assisted the sales and marketing teams with licensing and distributing Television content on multi- platforms to include cable, mobile and online; by providing top-notch competitive research analysis that identify area of risks and opportunities for each of these platforms.
 
Prior to CBS, Betty was at NBCUniversal (NBCU), beginning her career there in 2004 and last served as the Associate Research Director, Strategy & Insights for Content Distribution. In this role, Betty was responsible for providing top line and detailed analysis for all NBCUniversal brands and Multichannel Video Programming Distributor (MVPD) partners to support sales and marketing teams on deal renewals as well as guidance on long-term strategic and growth opportunities. Betty also served as the Co-Hub Leader for the UNIDOS New York/New Jersey hub and was one of three members who helped revive the inactive chapter in 2004. As Co-Hub leader for UNIDOS NY/NJ, Betty led a team of ten committee leaders along with Co-Hub Leader Jorge De La Rosa, Senior Vice President, NBC Sports & Olympic Sales Research. Most recently, Betty served as the hub’s local advisor. Betty initially created many of the UNIDOS yearly events, such as Career Education Day (educating high school or college students), Tasty Tuesday (sampling dishes from various Hispanic/Latino countries), Network to Footwork (a dance workshop) and her personal favorite, Hispanic Heritage Month’s Carnival. In this cultural celebration, members viewed various performances, taste delicious Latino dishes, network with other members, including senior executives and play Latino games such as dominoes. In its first year, the Carnival attracted nearly 300 members. In 2015, Betty was named a winner of Comcast NBCUniversal’s 'Know Your Value' program. The program recognizes innovators, role models to women, and trailblazers whom are empowering female colleagues across the company. 50 employees were selected, each from five different cities, to join Mika Brzezinski of MSNBC’s Morning Joe and a group of experts, such as Senator Elizabeth Warren, Brooke Shields, Hoda Kotb and more, to explore how women at all stages of their careers can achieve success at work and in life. Amongst the 250 employees whom were selected to attend, Betty was one of the 15 chosen to attend a two and a half day training at the Johnson & Johnson Human Performance Institute in Orlando, Florida. Since December 2015, Betty has been a Corporate Athlete/Graduate of the Johnson & Johnson Human Performance Institute.
 
Betty is the Founder of the Celebr8YOU movement, an inspirational campaign that promotes community kindness and celebrates people on the eighth day of every month. The organization also provides celebration & charitable services which include but are not limited to organizing holiday celebrations and charitable giving campaigns. Betty was recently acknowledged and presented a certificate of merit by Assemblywoman Nathalia Fernandez of Assembly District 80 in the Bronx for her work in the community in raising awareness of Eye Health and Wellness and creating the movement Celebr8YOU. In addition, Betty was recently appointed as a Board of Directors member of the Omega Phi Beta Foundation, Inc. (OPBF) effective January 2020. OPBF is a national, philanthropic organization committed to providing leadership, academic and community development opportunities, through educational and grant-making initiatives that support individuals and organizations dedicated to advancing women’s rights.
 
Betty attended State University of New York, College at Oswego in Oswego, New York and graduated with a B.A in Communications. She currently resides in New York City with her five year old son.
